Release 2.2 - Interactive spaces, new library with new default spaces, more settings and links, and new avatars!

This update includes a long-held wish: to offer real interactive rooms that are also easy to set up!

  • Next weeks we will introduce several spaces equipped with puzzles and assignments, which you can then modify and use immediately. We are starting with a real escape room, so keep an eye on your dashboard or our social media.
  • On the spaces page you can now find the library, which replaces the old 'Examples' tab. The library is the new 'home' for standard spaces that you can directly use and configure.
  • Here you will also find a number of new spaces. For professional users, you can find two more corporate office spaces provided by our partner Meta Intelligence. The Campus is a first version of a central meeting place that you can use for meetings, exhibitions or gatherings. Language Town is an environment where you can practice language and conversation.
  • As of now, Dutch organisations can also log in with SURFconext. This is a central service from SURF for education that allows students to use imedu anonymously, and you as an organization have control over the data you share. We can add more SSO integrations on request.
  • In imedu.world you will find new avatar categories. The 'robots' are back, and we also offer the option of offering or not offering certain categories. Contact us for more information.
  • Work faster in the CMS! We took the time to make many of those small (but fine) adjustments that make life so much easier. Instantly enter your last room, start a session with 2 clicks, better presentation of your rooms, easily share a link to a room, close popups with the Escape key, and many more handy updates that will make you happy.
  • Profile is now called 'Catalog'. With the catalog you can create a page with a selection of your spaces that are publicly visible. To access a space you need to sign up for our 'ticketing' solution or have a custom single sign-on solution for your people. With one of those two options, your visitor can access for a limited time to a private instance of the space. (Without a ticket you can use the catalog as a presentation of your spaces, and leave a contact page where we will send interested parties too)
  • To keep the environment simple for everyone, we have made the rights to create or upload spaces adjustable. As administrator, you can now control who can create whole new spaces or work in the Spoke editor. In practice, that will only be a few people. For the others you can hide these functions, they can still work on setting/adapting the default spaces, or the spaces created by the 'creators' in your organization.
  • The buttons in imedu.world have labels again. We had removed these to save space, but understood that this still raised many questions. In addition, the menu has been simplified, and unnecessary options have been removed. Less is more!
  • You can now easily organize your spaces into collections! These are a kind of "folders", with which you can easily find your rooms. Collections also appear in your catalog, if you publish rooms there.
  • When you want to include a link for VR headset users, you now have to select that seperately when planning a session. We saw that too many (desktop) users used the wrong link when we always included both.
  • If you want to start an instant session, you can now go to the Spaces page. Choose a space, click on start session and use the 'Start instant' button. This will start a 1-hour session in the selected space and you will immediately receive the link to share.
