Placing and scaling 3D content
In a previous article direct uploading of content such as images and documents is discussed. Besides uploading 3D content this article will also demonstrate how you can make labels as well as how you can resize, rotate and move 3D objects in your virtual space.
This article is the second one in our three-part article series where we explain all the different options of uploading content.
- You can read the first article here: Upload content.

How to place 3D Model from Sketchfab
In addition to 'flat' documents such as videos and presentations, you can also place 3D objects in the room. If you can create these yourself, you can upload the .glb file using the 'Place > Upload' function. Usually, you will not have this, and then you can use the open-source models that can be found on Sketchfab. This is a site where designers share models that can often just be used in education. imedu has integration with Sketchfab, to easily and quickly search 3D models.
- Click on 'Place
- Click on 3D model
- Go to the Sketchfab tab (Google Poly closes by July 2021)
- Click on an object to place it in space
- Depending on the size of the file, it may take a while for it to appear

In the video below we will go over the steps you need to take in order to place and scale content in random or unique places. We will work with some 3D models but the same applies to any type of content.
Creating stickers (text labels)
Sometimes you want to place a label or short text somewhere. This can be done very quickly and easily via a trick with the 'chat' function.
- Type your text in the chat window, but do not send it.
- Click on the 'magic wand' to the right of the input field.
- The text now appears as a label in space. You can place it where you want.
- Don't forget to pin the label or put it on a frame, otherwise, it will disappear when you leave the room.
Be aware it can take a little bit of time before the labels appear in the room, this can take up to 45-60 seconds.
